SHUD has developed a community Redevelopment Master Plan  to create a new neighborhood infrastructure.  The master plan will incorporate architectural designs
that will maintain the historic characteristics of the neighborhood.  The main 
objectives are to reduce community deterioration; remove slum and blight; and construct new and/or rehabilitate affordable and moderately priced homes for homeownership or rental.

The neighborhood boundaries are North View Avenue, Oakland Avenue and Cumming Road on the North; Bransford Road, Joy Road and Boy Scout Road on the West; Wheeler Road (bordering the Augusta Country Club) on the South and Johns Road on the East. Sand Hills Community Center is centrally located at 2540 Fleming Avenue. Community places of worship include Cumming Grove Baptist Church, Elim Baptist Church, Greater Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church and Rock of Ages CME Church.
